Besides film and animation, music means a lot to me. Would love to know what you guys have been listening to recently and if you have any favourite albums from the 2020s?
I've been on a bit of a hip hop kick recently, The Low End Theory is an amazing album. In terms of this decade Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (Little Simz) and How Do You Sleep At Night (Teezo Touchdown) are some standouts. Please drop some recs!

I honestly would love some recommendations too! I listen to a lot of music that is older than 10 years and while sure I like it? I would love some new stuff! I think @ZackLoup knows more music? And @MystSaphyr too! Can you guys share some fun stuff for use to check out?

For a really unique Soul Album of mine I was gonna recommend Avalon Vales by Lauren Bousfield (incredible accessible track is No More Worlds Like This, no More Days Like That), then balefully realised it is not the 2010s anymore. Then realised she put out a new album in 2023, Salesforce, that's a good bit less melancholic and more pop-y at times. Try Organizational Rot.

I love Little Simz, too. Saw her open for Gorillaz.
Oh I really like Lauren Bousfield, she's very talented. My favourite album from last year was probably Let's Start Here from Lil Yachty. He took a complete 180 with this project put out a physc rock album. The Black Simnole is a crazy song. This is going to be a bit of a self plug, but here's an Eva edit I made set to it:

Oh goodness do you really want me to share my weeb singing robot stuff LMAO I'm gonna be 100% honest most of what I listen to nowadays is vocalsynths

They just dropped the theme song for the 10th anniversary of the Miku Expo concert series and I know I'm gonna be looping it for a while.

A vocaloid producer I like, EZFG, put out a new song recently. I always enjoy his music cause of the percussive, kinda industrial sound with heavy synths, and his MVs are all super creative in how he animates the lyrics (in this one he used magnetic powder to write each character before wiping it away with a magnet, then reversed the footage for the lyrics in the video)

Also not vocaloid (wow shocker) but this one's been stuck in my head due to the animation memes

Thanks for the tag! LOL Honestly a good amount of what I listen to is older too (for example, I'm currently listening to "3AM" by Matchbox Twenty lol). I listen to a lot of stuff that's new to me, but I'm now realizing is actually from the early or mid 2000s lol. I don't keep track of when songs come out, if I like it I like it. Here's some stuff albums I've been into in the 2020s that aren't old as fuck. A lot of it is either folk punk or spooky goth shit.

- "Stay Alive" by Laura Jane Grace (highly endorse anything by her, but that may be because her music gives me trans feels lol)
- "IMPERA" by Ghost
- "Ghost of Toast" by The Tomb Tones
- "Inked In Red" by Vision Video
- "Voyages, Dreams, and Other Stories" by Wakefire
- "Jenny From Thebes" by The Mountain Goats
- "Disposable Everything" by AJJ
- "Some Of It Was True" by The Menzingers
- "In The Wild" by The Interrupters

Tomb Tones, Wakefire, and Vision Video are bands I met when I was performing at DragonCon, and I really genuinely enjoy their stuff.
If you want a truly unhinged musical experience, feel free to check out my band The Gekkos. Some people like our music for whatever reason. :ROFLMAO:

I may have misunderstood the assignment a bit because I’m tired lol. I don’t know a lot about hip hop in all honestly.
I do have a cool friend named Twill Distilled who does nerdy hip hop who might be fun to check out!
And if you’re not against old music, Outkast’s album Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below is an old favorite of mine.

This is actually fantastic! Been always interested in diving into vocaloid more, I'll be sure to give these a listen!

I always try to listen to a mix of old and new stuff. I'll list some of the recent stuff I've been listening to:
  • Weyes Blood: recently got into this artist and I adore her album Titanic Rising. Her music has a ethereal feel to it.
  • Sir Chloe: Indie rock group, they recently released their first studio album. Michelle is my personal favourite of theirs.
  • Ginger Root: If you want some city pop, Ginger Root got you covered.
  • Wet Leg: saw this group live and have been a fan since. Not for everyone but their debut album gives me same summer album vibes as Two Door Cinema Club's first album Tourist History.
  • CMAT: Irish country singer and I'm a huge fan. Her music is catchy, emotional and has a sense of humour. I would recommend I Wanna Be A Cowboy Baby!, California and Every Bottle (Is My Boyfriend) to get an Idea of what her music is like. I admit I'm biased, she's a local musician.
I need to listen to more Hip-Hop so I don't have many recommendations:
  • SZA: Got into her music when I heard Kill My Ex on the radio. SOS is a great album, would recommend.
  • kali Uchi: Isolation is another great album. It's Hip-Hop mixed with R&B and a bit of Bossa Nova.
That Eva AMV was very cool :loop_zeni:
