Which Lupin films would you be willing to watch with your grandparents?

Honestly I'm curious about Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid in particular, but I thought this would be more fun as a thread. What Lupin films would you show your grandparents/parents in order to bond with them?

My grandparents are long dead so I'll just use my 60 year old boomer parents as reference instead lol
My dad's walked in on a few Lupin things, he's not really been into any of the things he's seen, but I think he'd get a kick out of the part 2 dub, I'd think he'd appreciate the balls to the wall humour in the dub. He may also like Goemon's Bloodspray, I actually might try him on that, I think he'd find that more compelling than some of the more casual Lupin stuff, which again he has not seemed very into.

I think my grandparents would physically die on the spot if I showed them Goemon's Bloodspray. :loop_laugh: I could see my grandpa liking a few part 2 episodes though.

I have a feeling my grandmother would've enjoyed Cagliostro, or at the very least entertained the idea of watching it! It's safe and has that Ghibli whimsy going on hahah.

I got my mom to watch The First and she liked it quite a lot! I still intend to show her Cagliostro and probably some P2 dub since she can't do subtitles at all nowadays.

My grandparents are the stereotypical boomer grandparents you'd ever meet.
So none of them, Lupin is too queer and chaotic for them.

My grandparents are all gone as well but for my dad, I think Cagliostro is a good choice and The First works well for any folks who like Indiana Jones movies? The First I think works best for being a bit more action packed. Fuma would probably be a good one too!

If they don't mind slower films, I think Cagliostro is a good choice. I didn't remember Miyazaki films being so long (like Spirited Away is 2 hours long?? Why do I not remember that?), but I def felt that a bit when I watched it for the first time this Saturday, cause I thought it was 1 hour 25 mins lol. But it is best to go into Cagliostro more blind, even if it's technically isn't the best intro to the franchise, watching other Lupin stuff softens it's impact (cause creators can't just stop referencing it). Otherwise, Fuma is a good alternative since it's has more action, more of a all star cast and is much shorter while still having beautiful scenery.

Like my grandpa would actually really love Alcatraz Connection, and Island of Assassins. I actually think i showed him the latter, and he really liked it if I'm remembering correctly. He is very fond of stuff that feels scifi, western, assassin-ey. Anything in those realms he's good. Like he loved Ghost in the shell and cowboy bebop. Wish he was around to see the new Trigun, i think he would have loved that.

Oh jeez, I've never really thought about it :/

I have shown my grandma a little bit of part 3; she called it weird and seemed confused the whole time. So yeah, definitely the more conventional stuff like Cagliostro and The First for her.

My grandpa's a lot harder to pin down since he's not really big on animation in general. I think he'd get a kick out of Jigen since he's really into westerns but I can't really think of any movies off the top of my head that fit into that niche. Maybe Mamo or the Koike films?

Anyway shoutout to my dad for being cool and seemingly enjoying watching part 2 with me (y)

I got my grandma into Lupin III in general since it seemed like something she'd like too, and she does, so any movie. The only Lupin movie that she hasn't liked so far was Psychokinetic strategy, she thought it was slow paced and boring.

The Lupin movie that she watched first was Alcatraz Connection, then The First, Voyage to Danger, then she watched all of the Koike movies after she finished TWCFM, then Babylon, Psychokinetic Strategy, Mystery of Mamo, Fuma Conspiracy, Lady Liberty, Dead or Alive, and Cagliostro just the other day.

If my grandma was still alive (the one that liked anime) I think she would love Castle of Cagliostro. She was more into like anime like InuYasha when I was in middle school, so I think that would be like the right balance for her.

it's awesome that your grandma likes watching lupin with you!! it sounds like a fun way to bond. has she seen any of the animated series or are you guys just watching the movies?

i think when my grandma was around she would have been pretty scandalized by some of the things in lupin lol. i think my dad could get really into it though! he'd really like the legend of babylon imo. he will enjoy any adventure though:loop_laugh:
