Fanart can include a costume, a story, a character, a drawing, anything like that. What was the first show or movie or or game or song or whatever that inspired your young self to make some art?

I think the first for me was Mario? I wrote a short story for my Piranha plant OC and my Koopaling OC and Yoshi OCs :loop_laugh: back then it was just on paper in a notebook, because that was before I had a computer with Internet and way before there were easy places online to share writing.

Club Penguin was the first "Fan Art" you could say I ever did back when I was a weee lad of 9 but since I was 9, this art was terrible, has been lost to time and never posted to the internet.
However the first Fanart I posted online was for Digimon and Dragon Ball.

Mostly Dragon Ball when I was 14. I had an OC named Takato who was just Kid Goku but edgy and with goggles and he had a digimon like turtle bestie called Milo, even wrote my first fanfic which was Dragon Ball X Sonic called Dragon Ball GS (I still have the original files BTW of this piece of shit). Takato is sometimes still a Dragon Ball OC depending on what I'm feeling but he's mostly an EarthBound OC now.
Takato and Milomon are still my babies though even if I prefer my other OCs like Jojo, Kaoru and Hikaru. Milomon is used way less now but he has become a mascot sort of character in universe for my projects. (One day maybe he'll be a character again)

I think it must have been- technically- 101 Dalmatians? The Disney movie. I made a whole illustrated fanfiction when I must have been maybe... six? Seven? That I then forced my poor father to hand-sew into a booklet. It's still in my room at my parents house somewhere! I'll have to go digging when I'm next home.

I made a lot of books as a kid. I'd draw everything that happened to me and then bind it all up into booklets, and go around proudly proclaiming that they were gonna be the next bestseller.

The first fandom I was really active in online was DuckTales, though. I have a soft spot for the reboot and I weaseled my way into a lot of shared spaces with the crew. Made most of my closest online friends that way, actually! I fell out of the fandom a while back but it was definitely a weird feeling scrolling through pinterest and seeing my art come up for the first time. The stuff I drew back then sucks in the scheme of things, but we all improve, right? Very sweet show, if you haven't seen it. Lupin and Jigen make cameos, too, which is hilarious thinking back on it.

Ohh what a good question! My very very first I suppose was technically The Hobbit, a teacher read my class the book when I was 10 all the way back in 2000-2001. I was so enamored with the story that he let me borrow his copy so I could draw Smaug from the cover for an art contest.

After that I got really in to Dragon Ball Z and Naruto when they were first released to Canada. I didn't know what fandoms were when I was 11, but boy did I want to make OCs and stories and share them with my friends at school.

Making Naruto OCs turned into my own story where I did have a character named Jigen waaay back when I was a teenager. I didn't know how to name characters back then.

Honestly hard to remember drawn probably yugioh. But the real first fan art was probably after my Dad took me to see the Iron Giant, he a had read a good review so we actually got to see it in theaters. I wanted a toy of it cause I liked the movie, but obviously no merch was made of it. So I tried making my own Iron Giant out of colored construction paper. It didn't look very on model cause I had no idea how to do any kind of paper craft thing. I ended up taking it to show and tell at school. None of the other kids new what I was talking about cause no one had seen the film. lol

Oooh, that's a hard one. The first fanfic I wrote was for Percy Jackson and the Olympians I think.

The first thing I ever made fan art of was Sonic the Hedgehog (I was mostly interested in original concepts a child up until I was introduced to Sonic), and the first thing I ever wrote fic for was Warrior Cats. The latter in particular I have to thank for starting my love of writing! It used to be something I detested until a teacher encouraged me to write about things I liked.

My first fanart was most likely a drawing of a screen of some arcade game I liked, or a character. I spent most of my childhood in the arcades, and I did doodles like this a lot. Unfortunately nothing survived until today.

I'm actually not sure what my first fanart was - I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil but I think that the first proper fanart would have been of Pokemon when I was around 7-8. I was OBSESSED with pokoemon. Come to think of it I used to come up with my own designs for Pokoemon with my mom so I guess I made my first OC around the same time :p

I've been drawing characters for as long as I've been alive, so who knows what the first art I did as a fan of something lol. But I did draw a lot of Pokemon as a kid, and that's probably the first fan art I posted online, probably long gone though, who knows where that went.

My first fanart that I am able to remember is a self-insert comic for either Pokémon or Animorphs from when I was like… 9? I know I drew both I just can’t remember which one came first LMAO

A couple pages of the Pokémon one are definitely still somewhere in my giant box of all my old childhood art, maybe I’ll dig them out someday.

The first fanfic I wrote was for FF10 when I was in highschool. I also did some cosplay for a local anime convention. Despite being super into Pokemon, Digimon, and Dragon Ball Z as a child I never had any interest in drawing the characters.

My first fanart was probably for plants vs zombies. I tried drawing a little peashooter with a melon pult catapult on it's head, it was weird lol
First fanart i posted online however? Definitely undertale. I have went a long way with my art haha
