Man, waking up to news like this is a sad reality of liking a franchise that's been around for nearly 60 years, and at least he passed in the most peaceful way possible... but this still hurts. It's no exaggeration to say Sof and I wouldn't be Lupin fans at all without Ohno's iconic theme: his first exposure to the series was the DDR remix of it, and he was the one who gave me the push to start watching Part 1 - partly through an AMV of Lupin the Fire, which reinterprets that same theme. May Ohno rest in peace knowing his music was the soul of this series, and that thanks to him Lupin showed me his everything
He was one of the magic ingredients to the series, gave us the core themes especially for the other characters (like Zenigata March), so many but also had range too. He was a long part of the series, even with cast changes (outside of Fuma Conspiracy and a couple of others) he was still there. I can't describe my favourite song, there's so many that he did...
RIP Yuji Ohno... At least you passed away peacefully...
Oh and GATSU, Yuji Ohno only did the OP/ED to Cobra but still... Can't deny his talents. The film The Most Dangerous Game has a very Lupin Part 2 like soundtrack.
Oh gosh, I was so sad to hear of his passing this morning. I agree that Ohno's scores are a big part of Lupin's magic... I love, love his music. It wouldn't have been the same without him. I'm also grateful we got those scores for as long as we did. May he rest in peace
He will always reshape every lupin fan's ear with wether it would be the iconic theme song itself or the bombastic samba temperado or the somber love squall and yet as I write this, I found a statement done by the yuji ohno Twitter account stating that a live performance of lupintic all stars will occur in Billboard Tokyo on May 30th so I hope they'll do a great honor in respecting a tribute to this legendary composer. RIP Yuji Ohno Thank you for enduring our ears with the wonderful music that you have defined for the whole franchise. You will always be the eternal lupin composer
The performance was already scheduled to take place - May 30th is his birthday. So now, sadly, rather than him being present, it will be as you as you say a tribute to him.
