I've always been a sucker for Alternate Universes, and I recently remembered the Steven Universe/Gem AU's!
So what I'm wondering is, what kind of gems do you think the LupGang (+ Zenigata and Yata) would be?
Here are mine, (Pictures included! Please keep in mind that none of these photos belong to me!)
Lupin - Taking inspiration from his French-Japanese heritage, I think he'd be a mix of Japanese Rhodochrosite and Auvergne Agate! He'd maybe have the Rhodo coloring, but with the pattern of the Agate, which I think would fit him really well. Who would Lupin be if his gem wasn't even a little dramatic like he is?
Jigen - I feel that Jigen would be a Black Sardonyx, not only do I think the pattern and coloring would fit him perfectly, but the meaning that Black Sardonyx holds also fits him very well! (Grounding-Strength, Discipline-Focus, and Protection!)
Goemon - Goemon to me was actually pretty hard! I wanted to go with a gem with history tied to it, but not just any random gem, y'know? So I ended up settling on Japanese Jadeite! Japanese Jadeite was used in the Jomon Period and was carved into Magatama to be used as both status symbols, protective talismans and in rituals! It also has a high durability!
Fujiko - I wanted to find something precious, but also sturdy for Fujiko, because it's just like her! Precious and beautiful, but also sturdy and able to go through some stuff. So I picked a Spinel! Specifically a red-orange Spinel to match her hair! (I love her ombre hair.. it's so so so pretty!) Spinels also represent Passion, Vitality, Courage and Physical Strength!
Zenigata - For Zenigata, I took a lot of inspiration from his personality! So after some thought, I ended up choosing Chrysoberyl! Specifically Brown Chrysoberyl. Not only is it a 8.5 on the Mohs Scale, making it the 3rd hardest natural gem, it also represents Balance, Discipline, and Personal Power, which I feel heavily fits our beloved Inspector.
And last but not least,
Yata - I feel like Yata is underrated, so I wanted to give him some love, so this is my version of giving him a smooch on that big forehead of his : ] To me, Yata is the golden retriever to a extremely anxious cheetah (Zenigata), so I wanted to find something that had calming properties! I ended up with Blue Chalcedony! This gem is used to create calm-focused jewelry, and is called the " Speaker Stone " as it's thought to support calm public speaking and clear expression! It's also linked to the throat chakra and said to provide emotional balance like soothing an overactive mind and reducing stress! (Sound familiar to anyone? Hehe.)
