This is also something I see folks discuss, to a minor degree, so I thought I'd pose the question here too: how old do you think the cast is?

I have no set ages in mind personally, but I do think that none of them are younger than 30, with Zenigata no younger than 50. I'm also still of the mind that Jigen is older than Lupin, despite Lupin Zero positing otherwise.

Depending on the version of the anime, like Lupin and co would be younger in Part 1, and Part 2 acknowledges a time jump of 5 years, and Cagliostro is intentionally set later as well (despite there being zero visual indication XD)

For Part 1, I'd say Lupin and Fujiko would be around 25, with Fujiko being up to 6 months older (I always imagined Lupin preferring an older woman, haha), with Jigen a year or two older, 26-27. Even though Part Zero has Jigen be Lupin's contemporary, Lupin would be smart enough to be a year or two ahead, or with Jigen's absences, he could be a year or two behind. Goemon would be the youngest, but again, only by one or two years compared to Lupin/Fujiko, so 23-24. Zenigata would be at least 10-15 years older, so about 35-40 in Part 1.

Then Part Two brings them up by 5 years, so:
Lupin & Fujiko- 30
Jigen- 31/32
Goemon- 28/29
Zenigata- 40-45

I'd probably keep them around that age for all future entries, aside from Cagliostro, where I'd put them another 5 years older, which would probably be enough to make them older and wiser, but not visibly.

That being said, sometimes I think Jigen is the one character who can be made to look a lot older if they draw him with more lines for his cheekbones, like in Voyage to Danger/Orders to Assassinate Lupin

I agree 100% on this. If you want to put everything into a timeline, then these ages are what I hc for like, part 3 on. (I do have such a timeline, but when I actually watch stuff, I always think of them as these nebulous 30+ ages.)

I also think there's about five years between Lupin and Jigen and at least another five, if not ten, between Jigen and Zenigata.

Oh wow, this is so thorough! 🤩 Honestly, the more I think about it the more I more or less I agree. I think I'd still place them all as maybe five years older to start with myself, but should this be declared canon one day I wouldn't mind either. I firmly agree with you on Lupin liking older women, though hehe!

Ah, I think that's how it is for me as well! When I watch any given entry I don't have that analytical part of my brain turned on-- and I've just never really considered figuring out what kind of timeline could be constructed before! I suppose it's part of why I pose the question, because I know other folks have done the work!

Some movies or Parts (like TWCFM where they’re clearly younger) aside, I usually imagine them in their 30s-40s with Jigen and Zenigata being the oldest, Fujiko next, Lupin, and Goemon the youngest. My vague age differences being about like this with Lupin at the center of the universe as he imagines himself to be.

Goemon: 3-5 years younger than Lupin.
Fujiko: 2-4 years older than Lupin.
Jigen and Zenigata: 5-10 years older than Lupin.

I get a kick out of Jigen being the same age as Zenigata because it makes him feel old whenever Lupin teases Zenigata about his age :loop_laugh:

to be honest I don't really care about "the timeline" or anything, this is just sort of generally where I put 'em 99% of the time.

Goemon: late 20s, early 30s. about 4-ish years younger than Lupin.
Lupin: mid-late 30s. basic ass bitch.
Fujiko: mid-late 30s as well, around the midpoint between Lupin and Jigen.
Jigen: late 30s, early 40s. only about 3 years older than Lupin.
Zenigata: anywhere from mid 40s to early 50s, I can never quite decide with this man.

Pretty par for the course stuff on my end, I think; nothin' too special.

I tend to see all the lupgang relatively close in age! As much as I like Zero, I do think Jigen is a bit older than Lupin, but I also think he looks a lot older than he is (old man face). Fujiko's also older than Lupin but you'd never be able to guess. Zenigata I'm the least sure about but I definitely think he's a good bit older than Lupin. Maybe like this:

Goemon: 2-3 years younger than Lupin
Lupin: Probably the same age as Lupin
Jigen: 2-3 years older than Lupin
Fujiko: 3-5 years older than Lupin
Zenigata: 10-12 years older than Lupin

Leia and I tend to put ages all over the place depending what era we're writing, who we're shipping, and what-all else, but the best I remember, here's where I tend to settle out:

* Jigen: Late thirties, because I'm projecting. He's probably going to keep getting older with me as long as I'm writing him.

* Lupin: Thirties. About Jigen's age, maybe a few years younger, maybe a little older -- Lupin seems like the kind of person who'd pester Jigen about being old while actually being three months older or something.

* Goemon: Thirtyish. Late twenties if we're shipping him with Yata, which Leia likes to do. Definitely at least a few years younger than Lupin and Jigen.

* Fujiko: I legitimately don't have a headcanon for this, the answer in my head is just "Don't ask a lady her age".

* Zenigata: In Bye Bye Lady Liberty he's canonically 51. However, the amount of energy he has, I tend to put him closer to his mid-forties or earlier. Definitely no younger than forties, though, and definitely older than Lupin and Jigen.

* Yata: Baby boy. Baby. Leia likes him mid-twenties, I might skew a little younger.

Ah, I completely forgot about Yata! I figure Albert should be considered as well-- Yata I definitely think is the youngest, and him being in his 20s really reinforces my personal conception of the gang being in their early 30s and beyond. Lupin Zero seems to suggest Albert is younger than Lupin, but going off what we see in Part 5 I always assumed they were the same age... He also seems to be young to be in politics, but "young" in politics is again usually a 30s to early 40s range, especially for the position he's in. I suppose one could apply a bit of anime logic and say he's really just that adept at political maneuvering, but Albert also seems a little too mature to be in his 20s by the time we see him in the present.

All of that said, the more and more I mull on this... The more I think I have to accept that the main 4 were likely in their 20s during Part 1, with Zenigata likely somewhere in his 40s. As stated, I'm usually not one for trying to wrangle a concrete timeline out of this franchise, but the lore-lover in me can't help but try eventually...

I don't have headcanon for their specific ages but I usualy go by the following ranges:
Zenigata: around 50
Jigen: 40's - I can never decide if it is early 40's or late 40's so let's just say he is in the 40 something range
Lupin: late 30's and salty about it - he will be pretending to be in his early 20's for as long as his receiding hairline will let him XD
Fujiko: probably somewhere in her 30's but you will believe whatever age she tells you
Goemon: late 20's to early 30's
Yata: baby of this group at mid 20's (I was going to say younger but he is a detective so he needed to finish his schooling for that so mid 20's fits)

I headcannon most of the gang as pretty close in age honestly. For parts 1-3, I'd say mid-late 20s, Zenigata might hit 30 at the end and Lupin like 28 or so. As for parts 4-6, late 30s/early 40s (and Yata is in his mid 20s).

But yeah Zenigata is the oldest and I don't have a headcanon for the youngest of the main five. Maybe Jigen or Goemon?

I am of the belief that Lupin is just immortal so age is irrelevant and he's eternally youthful but I like to say Lupin is 27, Jigen 30, Goemon and Fujiko around 25. Zenigata is like 40.
Lupin went through the "Son Wukong TM" method of immortality and has pissed off several higher deities who try to undo his immortality only to make him even more immortal that it stacks onto him.

I’m with a lot of you, I like to headcanon that none of them are younger than 30. Here’s my list

Yata - Mid 20s, he is a baby
Goemon - Early 30s
Lupin - Mid 30s
Fujiko - Mid 30s, but a year or two older than Lupin lol
Jigen - Mid 40s. I like the idea of him not being much younger than Pops as well for the same reason Tsushi mentioned
Zenigata - Late 40s to early 50s. He’s definitely gone gray at his temples (probably early thanks to Lupin, lol)

Lmao this is the best headcanon ever thank you for making me picture this in my head Lupin is definitely Son Wukong TM immortal and it's just one more reason for everyone to be extremely annoyed by him.😂

I agree a lot with the lupgang immortality theory so age is relevant here. But also I am standing by the hilarious headcanon that everyone is in their mid 30s except for Zenigata, who is like late 30s or early 40s the most and because of this maximum 5 years difference he got the nickname "Pops".

Like, think about it! Lupin being 35 and Zenigata 39 and Lupin is like "omg you're so old how haven't you still collapsed Grandpa". And Jigen is probably 37 or something; he does look ages older because of his horrible smoking/drinking/almost-dying-every-Tuesday lifestyle. Same as Zenigata, he has gone through hell behind Lupin after all!

For Goemon I do think he's a bit younger, like around 32-33 (you cant tell me he looks older). And for Fujiko I'll say 37, same as Jigen because YES Lupin would go for older women, as was mentioned before in the thread and also it's funny to put Jigen and Fujiko in the same line as they're the parents of the group in my mind and it also makes their rivalry friendlier in a way.

So
Goemon ~33
Lupin 35
Jigen & Fujiko 37
Zenigata ~39

And Yata in his mid 20s because yes of course he's a baby and we all love him <3

So my only age headcanon which probably doesn't make sense in Canon is that in Lupin Zero, I imagine Jigen as being slightly younger than Lupin only because I find it really funny that this little child with the rough voice, the chain smoking and attitude is like 11 or 12 (I think it's been stated that Lupin is like 13 in the series??) I also think it more tragic if you think about how Jigen seemingly was forced to grow up and take care off himself, if he is even younger than Lupin who has all these privilege Jigen never had.
Maybe if we have the "Lupin is Immortal" theory, Lupin just stops growing after a while and then Jigen catches up and becomes the older one lol

As with all long running franchise characters, I think it's safe to say that all of the Lupin gang are effectively immortal, if only just out of narrative necessity! I just like to think they're all older than 30 with their longevity-- too many immortal twentysomethings, I'd say! :loop_laugh:

I do admit that I love the idea that Zenigata is only so much older than Lupin because it makes him calling him "Pops" all the more ridiculous, but in the end I find that I like the gap to actually be significant. However, I do imagine Jigen and Zenigata being close in age, so the joke can still rear it's head there with Jigen being in on it. 🤭

THIS however I agree with entirely, much to no one's surprise, I'm sure. 😆

For me, there's no possible way that Lupin is any younger than 38. I think because in a TV special Zenigata mentioned he'd been chasing him for 20 years, so I just pinged Lupin as at least 18 when he gets out to do big crimes - but I do like the idea that he and Zeni don't meet until Lupin's in his 20s. Zeni is 5 years older than Lupin, with Jigen being inbetween that at 3 years older than Lupin. Fujiko's definitely older than Lupin but maybe only by a year or two. Goemon's baby and is 7-9 years younger than Lupin.

How I think about their ages when I draw them:
Lupin 39
Jigen 42
Goemon 29
Fujiko 40 (but says she's 28)
Zenigata 44
Yata 27
