Adding another rec, just not anime:

I propose watching Scooby Doo Mystery Inc, theres a good chance you have watched some iteration of scooby doo and probably this one as well, but this is a serialized series with an on going arc. It's around 52 episodes and makes you realise "Wow the parents of Crystal Cove are somehow more awful than a typical anime dad". It also kinda gets dark but still has the Scooby Doo charm.

(pretty sure you can buy the series off of Amazon prime for relatively cheap)

Late reply but I grew up with this show and many other Scooby iterations, this will always be a classic.
