Lupin OST Discussion

one of the things that has attracted me to Lupin so much has been its music! And I also feel like it's had such a huge impact on anime music too. Persona 5's OST is also heavily influenced on it too (among so many other things) and I have a whole playlist dedicated to just persona 5 and lupin music that I listen to when I write

So I wanna know what everyone's thoughts about the discography is!! What's your favorite insert song/opening/ending/character theme/movie theme!!

Personally my favorite song in the OST is actually the Lupin Theme because i'm hashtag basic (✦థ ｪ థ) but no I just adore how creative Yuji Ohno has gotten with making countless variations of the theme song, while still somehow retaining that iconic jazz sound in all his work.

I also feel the Lupin series wouldn't be the same without the soundtrack it has, I just can't even begin to wrap my head around a Lupin without Yuji Ohno just like how I can't imagine Atlus without Shoji Meguro

My top two favorites are probably Afro Lupin from the Part 1 OST and Samba Temperado from Cagliostro! Even that said, though, it's hard to single out favorites among so many standout songs. Yuji Ohno in particular kills it every time!

There are so many good songs, but one of my favourites is Love Is Everything. It's always a treat to hear a new version of it. It's my go to song whenever I want to just sit around and think about my ships.

There's also a track on the Zenigata live action OST that gets me really hyped, Taiho Suru or something like that. I bought the CD just for that song.

Samba Temperado is also one of my favorites!! I love the use of it in Cagliostro, and all it's variations. Yuji Ohno really always hits it out of the park

Love is Everything is soooooo good and it's my second favorite ending song!! I adore every version of it and I'm glad it keeps being used, the perfect ship song

Also I'm gonna check out the Zenigata live action OST!! I didn't know about it and I'm sure it's super good

I was over the MOON to hear the rendition of Afro Lupin in some of the first Lupin Zero promotional material. I think that's what singlehandedly took me from being disinterested to being super excited for its release (and it thankfully did not disappoint)! That said, though, I'll always prefer the original-- the more it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, the better!

Samba Temperado, though, I agree is fantastic in every iteration. It has such great energy I can't get enough of!

I'm pretty fond of Sexy Adventure, mostly bc it's the only lyrical Lupin OP (that I know of) that my vocal range allows me to sing

I absolutely adore Part 1's music from Takeo Yamashita and Charlie Kosei, it's the most latest 60s/early 70s music I've ever heard. Whenever I walk in windy or wet weather, it suits the mood perfectly. The Theme of Lupin III I & II, Nice Guy and Afro Lupin 68 are my favourites!

When I'm driving, I love the energy and vibrancy of Yuji Ohno's jazz styling, which can be relaxing at times, or gives me more energy to keep driving away. The Theme of Lupin Third 1978 (2002), Love Squall, Love Theme, Sexy Adventure and so many others are fantastic listens!

Oh gosh there's so many to list. From Part 1 I love Nice Guy Lupin, it's so goofy and fun to sing along to. And from Ohno's work I always really love the vocal songs, like Lovin' You [Lucky], Superhero, Sexy Adventure, and Manhatten Joke. From the instrumental themes gosh there's too many to choose, I really like Funny Walk, Tornado, and of course Zenigata March is always so fun.
Something I know a lot of you haven't heard are the Italian openings, and omg some of them are like legit great.
The two standouts being Planet O from the first Italian Part 1 dub, and L'incorreggibile Lupin from Part 3. I legit sing both to myself all the time just because of how catchy they are

Yeah, it was an original song that was initially released without any involvement with Lupin, but by it's third print was all in on the Lupin branding

Actually, even though the blurays now have Planet O again, for a short time in the 2000s they had to change the themes for Part 1 and 2 (which was not Planet O, but also had to be changed) and they replaced them with a song called "Hello Lupin"
