I am planning on it for sure! I just have to save up for something this year, so it might be a little while, but the cover looks nice and it's great to have more of the manga reprinted!

I'll definitely be picking this up at least digitally, I'm personally not a fan of the art chosen for the cover but I will say that it does fit Lupin like a glove!

big win for the mangabro community (we have been starving)
the next step is to maybe translate the rest of the shin lupin manga hehe
As rad as that'd be, I think these "greatest hits" collections are the best way to go about it.
Lupin the Third is still a fairly niche series in most of the world, and aside from folks like us, most people probably won't buy every volume of a 70s manga series.
Also, I'm not sure how well a modern audience would take the more...problematic elements of the series.

As suspected, although it was due to arrive today, my copy of "Lupin III: Thick as Thieves - The Classic Manga Collection" from Amazon UK has not shipped, and is now awaiting a new delivery date. I suspect this will be August, matching the U.S. and Canada release. Anyone else in the UK had the same thing happen to them?

I preordered mine the day it was announced and I know it got pushed back at least once. Right now it says it should arrive August 1st for me but the big bookstore here in Canada sommmeeeetimes sends preorders out early so we'll see!

I am excited though, I hope they picked some good chapters to include.

I'm not surprised. I think the "Greatest Heists" collection got pushed back three or four times before I finally got it.

Which would you all recommend, Thick as Thieves or Greatest Hits? How are they different?

If you liked the first one, this is another compilation of stories from the manga. Basically one of the cheaper ways to get your hands on MP art legally lol

I read Thick as Thieves the other day, and I really liked the longer story about Lupin trying to take back his family's island from the guy who'd established a micro nation there. Has that story ever been adapted in the anime in any shape or form? It'd make for an interesting TV special with some tweaking.

Also, in the scene where the bad guy and Lupin end up on top of each other when the balloon shakes, I'm sure the Tokyopop translation had a gay joke where Lupin said he's flattered but doesn't do that kind of stuff on first dates, but there was absolutely nothing like that now, though admittedly I read it in German and not English. But someone said on the forums before that the gay subtext/jokes that are famous in the fandom were added by Tokyopop and aren't anywhere in the original, and it was a bummer to see it first-hand.
