International Hits & Bangers

Songs that are/were MASSIVE in your home country/language - But they're totally unknown to the rest of the world. Possibly my favourite topic, please share yours. (You can share other favourites too.)

Holding me together right now are German dub/dancehall icons Seeed.

For some reason Ding defines the grade school experience of everyone my age. It's about going out to cheat on your wife and hesitating just long enough to drink yourself into a coma before you can go through with it. The video's trippy, adult stop motion animation, absolute travesty that it's only available in 480p.

Every beat just hits.

Another classic, ft. Cee Lo Green. Peter Fox likes his lyrics to be weirdly therapeutic.

And, ok, one more. Tremendously endearing imo. All the music videos off of New Dubby Conquerors are just joyful.

Sadly, we lost one of the frontmen, Demba Nabé, in 2018. They did have a comeback after that, doing something more... poppy.

Loveee this thread idea. As a bland USian, I have nothing to contribute but I can’t wait to hear about big hits that I’ve never heard!

I am a French-as-second-language speaker as well as American, so I don't know how popular he is in the wider francophone world, but I have to recommend Stromae any chance I get. I'd put money on any American learning French in the 2010s also being a fan of him, given he was up and coming at the time and makes banger music.

His most popular track is probably Papaoutai, but the whole album its from (Racine carrée) is just bop after bop. Cannot recommend his work enough!

IDK how popular he is outside the UK and the only son I see being known outside it is Wagon Wheel but Nathan Carter. He's considered a "Legend" here and I swear everyone and their mother has gone to his concerts because its like every other week he's performing in your town. I feel like my sister has gone seen him live at least 700 times over the past 10 years because he's everywhere. But when it comes to him in media, such as the radio or TV, besides his Wagon Wheel hit... I basically hear nothing about him and definitely nothing from Stan Twitter.

Maybe he's very popular internationally with the Country Music Niche but I seriously don't know because I'm not a fan of him since I'm a Punk/Rock Dude
