i found all of the artwork from the calendar, but sadly theyre all unscanned and took from a slanted angle so until i eventually find something better quality, all i have is this.

yeahhh i agree with you, it's honestly quite hard to replicate the traditional feeling on digital, especially back then.. something about the old mp art just has more charm
the use of airbrush in particular gives me whiplash as an artist myself LMAO and i just prefer the art style during the 60s-80s

it kinda reminds me of The Dark Knight Strikes Again with Human Garbage Racist Frank Miller. When he did his most famous work, Dark Knight Returns in the 80s it looked like this:

and then the Sequel in the early 2000s, Miller just went ham with the photoshop.

This is even worse with the fact that it's suppose to be a serious story with political satire and it's a sequel to one of the most praised western comics of all time, but the art is so bad (not that the story is any better, but the art doesn't help). Kato at least was just experimenting with his artwork with no real stakes.
