Lupin the Third, Jigen Daisuke, Ishikawa Goemon and Fujiko Mine have been heisting, stealing and looting together and apart for over 50 years now, with Inspector Kouchi Zenigata on their tails at all times!

So, from these 5 daring, inspiring and sensational individuals, which one has stolen or cuffed your heart away from the other 4?

For me, of course it's the grandson of the famous gentleman thief, Lupin the Third! His ability to triumph no matter the odds stacked against him, his ability to face any and all danger with a smile on his face, the pure escapist nature of Lupin draws me in every time. He's a showman and a swindler, and if there's a way to show of his skills and get away, he'll take it every time.

If it wasn’t obvious from my pfp and banner, my favorite is Zenigata. He’s just a big goofball with a heart of gold that always tries his best and is SO very determined in what he does. A lot of people underestimate him, but he’s actually very smart and competent and capable of doing great things, like catching Lupin! I also really admire how he wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s not afraid to show how he feels and he’s always very true to himself.

Zenigata sure is all those things, and I'm glad he's been getting a lot more focus on his determination and the work he puts into being a policeman. But I don't mind his wackier moments too, chasing Lupin has gotta take a toll somehow

Oh, absolutely! My favorite Zenigata characterization is a nice balance between being competent yet silly. He gets the chance to show off his skills and have fun while doing it! XD

Lupin and Zenigata are the heart and soul of the series. You can't have one without the other, really. Goemon and Jigen are good, too, but they're like seasoning (to be honest, I can take or leave Fujiko).
Their eternal game of cat and mouse is very entertaining and I don't get the same fatigue from it as other iconic hero and villain duos. But don't make me chose between them, I love them both so much and they have to stay together, even in a pointless ranking

Zenigata's my favorite too. I saw a theory awhile back that the reason he seems incompetent all the time is because he's up against Lupin. Usually when it comes to literally anyone else, he's gotten them arrested pretty quickly.
Zenigata also seems to be a tricky character for the writers to get right, sometimes they play him too dumb when in reality he's not a complete idiot. But when they get him right, he's fantastic.

I think the writers who get him right tend to have him chase Lupin, find out a larger conspiracy and bust that, and still not capture Lupin. That strikes a pretty good balance of competence but Lupin inevitably getting away from him. I also think this scenario must happen often for INTERPOL to not fire him lol.

My favorite is Jigen because grumpy man looks cool.

Its Lupin and IDK why, I think the sounds he makes and his mannerisms makes him appealing and comforts me.
Zenigata is 2nd, he is like a walking Teddy Bear that can be serious and actually threatening.

My favorite is Lupin!!! He's just so charming and I personally love comedic characters that actually has some sort of depth, whether it'd be backstory or just their overall personality. I also personally relate to him being the type of person that looks like they show a lot of themselves but doesn't say anything about themselves at the same time. It's such an interesting character trope that allows ppl to analyze and give a variety of interpretation about lupin

Also. his design is just lovely, especially the manga one. He just looks so silly and evil

I love Lupin so very much, he reminds me to live with freedom in my heart. And his charisma just can’t be denied, you can really tell why so many people are drawn to him! You just feel it yourself even in the audience!

But Jigen really just… even seeing an image of him brightens my day and I definitely couldn’t bear to separate the ultimate duo! Without Jigen, I think Lupin would have trouble, so I cheat and pick them both

I'm a big ol' softy for Zenigata! I love the whole Lupgang, but if I gotta give someone the crown its Zenigata. I got a thing for the big goofy sorts like him. Not saying I don't like some of his more serious incarnations, those are great too!

Okay, just want to make sure everyone is seated before I lay down the ultimate shocking surprise, but my favourite Lupin III character is....

JIGEN!

Heh. But yeah, he's ultimately my favourite. I got into the series seeing the little CGI clip of him grinning online and being like: WHO IS THIS HOTNESS AND WHERE IS HE FROM!? Which is sort of funny because I had just gotten into gruff, irritable, furry guys thanks to Aizawa from BNHA (and apparently it turns out I've been into them for ages, see Adam Jensen (Deus Ex Human Revolution), Mordecai (Borderlands), etc) Though when I first went to look up the characters, I took one look at Jigen and was like: oh no...he's going to be a total womanizer cowboy asshole, isn't he?

I was thrilled to be proven wrong. He's definitely bi, with strong gay visuals in both the manga, and other media, he's super loyal, very intelligent, skilled, still super cool, tactical, but he's also very caring of the team: cooking, cleaning, helping care for them when they are down/sick, etc. Yeah he's irritable, grumpy, stubborn as shit and bad at feelings (thus the hat, duh!), but he totally has a big heart under it all and would do anything for his partner and his team. I think he loves all of them in different ways (even Fujiko), and that they both fullfill different things he needs, as he does for them.

However, I also really adore Lupin. He's passion and freedom incarnate. Yeah he can be a jerk and sometimes just a downright terrible person. But he's also kind, romantic, fun, wild, chaotic, and I could go on and on. I see him, I imagine, how Jigen sort of does. Like this amazing, brilliant light to follow. No day with him could ever truly be boring, and you will share everything together: the ups as well as the downs.

Ultimately he and Jigen belong together and I'd hate to separate them, so I kind of have to pick them both. They are both compitent and capable, whole people without the other...but WITH them they are so, SO much more. Jigen provides grounding, trust, support, and unconditional and unending love. "Where you go, I go" While in return, Lupin brings light into Jigen's life, gives him direction, purpose and fun. Together, they can get their kicks and pull off insane stunts that only they can do together and with the team, they don't have to be evil villians, but they can follow the crazy passion and excitement that makes their hearts sing.

My favorite’s definitely Lupin! Whenever he’s on screen, he just puts a smile on my face. I adore characters who are lovable dorks, like Vash from Trigun, and his character design compliments that aspect of himself. His charismatic, mischievous nature’s also a part of his charm.

Zenigata’s in close second because he’s so much fun to watch. His cat and mouse dynamic with Lupin really shines throughout the series, and his tenacity as an inspector when it comes to pursuing him is admirable/impressive. He never gives up the chase!
