Discotek finally 'running out' of '77 Lupin discs?

It sounds like a case of finding probably the last big shipment from a warehouse. After all Discotek stopped making DVDs literally after Part 2 and dropped the planned included DVD of The Last Job, they declared their entire DVD library to be OOP. Once it's gone, it's gone and I guess that Collection 3 will have the most stock (1 & 2 have English dubs, 4 has the two Miyazaki episodes). Also MediaOCD isn't "quite" an import store since they done the discs in the first place (MediaOCD -> Discotek -> Amazon/Crunchyroll -> MediaOCD). A case of get it now.
Yeah, Part 2 is the last big Lupin project and one of the last ones for Discotek too.
I think the reason why it's taking so long was because they were concerned over the picture quality. They thought that it was an upscale and I thought the same but it was a HD scan done quickly (Japanese DVDs from the late 2000s outright said HD remaster, the Discotek DVDs are a downsample of the Japanese Blu-rays). To redo all 155 episodes would cost time and money, also I don't know if Japanese TV airings are better picture quality or just the same. A case of not sure whether to do what's already done in Japan/Italy releasing it as it is with the Blu-rays or to do a SD-BD of the series. Then there was the idea to complete the dubs but since Discotek have and still release stuff that's either incomplete dubs or Japanese with English subtitles, I don't think it went very far knowing the cost to dub 76 (or 74 if they decide to keep the old Streamline dubs of the Miyazaki episodes). As much as I like the series to be fully dubbed as do many others, know it's not financially possible as it's not One Piece popularity or really encouraged like Detective Conan, plus there's a mismatch between the earlier more "jokey" dub with Dan Lorge as Zenigata and a potential faithful dub with Doug Erholtz as Zenigata. Probably would be better to be completely redone but keep the older dub as a bonus. Apparently licensing costs are quite high too or at least they were. It just needs someone who really believes in Lupin to do this.
If Discotek does release Part 2, they should go all out. As I would put it Arrow style. All the episodes or split into 4 collections like before, all the alt versions of the episodes (there's quite a fair few of an International master whether its a spelling fix or animation changes, some of these you can see on Crunchyroll of the undubbed episodes because some did make it on the Geneon DVDs), both versions of episode 5 (the Blu-ray fixed an animation/lip-sync goof), original and altered soundtracks as the ones on the Geneon DVDs were different on certain episodes (from memory 13, 18, 20, 48, 63, 74, with the ones in bold being impactful to the scene there might be a couple more)* plus the same special features as before. Oh and double check the translation/subtitles too. Some parts didn't seem right...
* - Maybe also improve the sound on certain episodes (a few on the Japanese side don't sound great, one episode think had some audio clipping) or find the missing Season 4 stereo tracks but those might actually be lost or never existed, can't be helped if that's the case.
Speaking of which, it hinted recently that Discotek have over 100 discs to check. While some of these would be releases that they have on the way (Monster being the big one and my guess the remaining unannounced TV Special Boxsets because it seemed that they did a license with TMS/NTV), Part 2 could be there.

Yeah I would say it seems likely Part 2 WILL get a Bluray eventually but the length does make it extremely labor intensive and costly. So it's probably just something they want to be sure they have lots of features that make it worth rebuying for collectors. I mean like, obviously I would buy it, but a lot of people who already have the DVD aren't as likely to unless it has some extra stuff included.
