Discotek Day on Monday the 30th!

If you have a few hours to spare on Monday it’s pretty fun to hop into Discotek’s announcements livestream and find out what new shows and movies they got queued up for 2023b



Discotek usually has Lupin news in their streams, they’ll say what movies and English dubs are on the way, but even if they don’t have a new Lupin release this time, there’s always a lot of cool anime getting very nicely preserved and upscaled.

If any of the announcements are exciting to me I will probably be shouting about it here and on Twitter lol feel free to share hopes and predictions, or reactions to something unexpected getting a polished new release! They shocked a lot of people with their Digimon release announcement, and Sonic TV Show, you never know what’s coming

I have my fingers crossed for a release of Sweet Lost Night, especially if it got a dub, that would be really fun!

Discotek Day is basically a multiple-times-a-year Christmas for me at this point - even if there's nothing in there that I absolutely have to have, it's always just cool to see the stuff they're grabbing that I know other people are going nuts for! Definitely tuning in via Twitter on Monday, barring any more uh, fun with power in my area... *crosses fingers*

Yeah! They really talk about these things with such passion and it just is a lot of fun to see anime and stuff that I never heard of and see how many people are excited for it!

Reminder for folks that Discotek Day is in just a few hours now, and as long as there's no power snafus (it's sleeting and icing where I am, so...yeah...*sigh*), I'll definitely be following along on Twitter, so if anything Lupin gets announced, I'll try to post about it here (not sure if anyone other than staff is allowed to post threads in the News section and I'd hate to step on any toes).

My own personal predictions (that are so often wrong)? I'm going to bet...two 'new' Lupin things! The first will be a Bluray re-release of The Fuma Conspiracy which Discotek previously released years back and is now super out of print, and one new TV special we've never gotten before (going out on a further limb and guessing Angel's Tactics). Will I be right? Wrong? Some glorious mix of the two? I can't wait to find out!

And I know for sure Lee (Lupin Central) will post a full Lupin recap report tomorrow that will post in News, because he is sleeping rn. Angel's Tactics is the first in a slew of the TV specials that I've never gotten to see yet, so this more than works for me!

I did not know the fansubs were completely made up, but that makes sense, I'll have to rewatch this when I get the bluray.
Actually that makes a lot of sense in retrospect, I remember having issues with the subs and going in and correcting a few things.

I have been slow as heck to get around to any of the unreleased on American DVD Lupin stuff. Keeping my fingers crossed for Mankatsu release someday by Discotek because I loved it but I still have only gotten through half the eps!

Never heard of it before this but it looks awesome! And yes omg Kodocha, I loved that manga but I never watched the show… I want to haha I really should get the blurays, there’s always so many cool ones they release!

I all but forgot they had Urusei Yatsura's TV series now too, definitely have to try to nab that before it's MIA again. Been wanting to see it for some time just based on how much I love Ranma 1/2.
