Fellow artists out there. If you got any tips for drawing Lupin characters. Please let me know your best ones. I've been always wanted to draw these although I kinda suck at drawing humans especially in my style lol

Something tells me that I probably need to learn anatomy though, although I would love to hear your advice.

Screenshot redraws and lifedrawing!!

When you're first starting out you want to draw fun things, so screenshot redraws is so important because while you're doing them you'll pick up little things here and there. Lupin is such a great series to do this with because so many different artists have touched it and you'll start to notice how each one tackles anatomy/expressions/poses. Fill sketchbooks of these, just go absolutely wild! The more you do it, the better you'll get.

Sprinkle some lifedrawing in there, but don't make the boring study work the only thing you do or else drawing won't be as fun anymore. Try this youtube channel for some really nice lifedrawing

Use the lifedrawing skills you get and apply them to the fanart you do, see how it fits into redraws and you'll start to see how the body works and how you can further stylize it!

I've been doing this since 2003 through highschool and art college and even now I'm still honing it!

Completely agreed with Jey - quick little screenshot studies are the easiest path to learning to draw a particular character (whether or not you post them anywhere); same with life drawing and learning anatomy! Model sheets, or settei, are also useful to study - fire up Google Images and go nuts.

Also, remember the beauty of the Lupin cast is that you can apply your own style to them and still have them be recognisable - I mean look how much variation there is in the canon art styles! As for how to keep them recognisable, I recommend doing those studies and trying to observe what makes Lupin Lupin, or Zenigata Zenigata. For example, this Tumblr post raised an excellent point about the man himself that's consistent across most series and movies: "Lupin’s design, with his really rectangular body and lanky limbs, is perfect for silhouetting and using negative space for clearly defined poses.".

Gonna second Jey's advice to redraw screenshots! It's how my partner learned a lot from Lupin. Some of the biggest names in animation have worked on Lupin and they imparted so much life into the characters, you can learn so so much from those screencaps!
