I'm gonna say no personally and probably make a rule of no AI art in general, though thank you very much for asking because I hadn't thought about it when I made the forum!
But to explain why, I don't think it can be used without being a threat to artist's future careers at this time.
I'm glad some systems are entirely opt in, because of the lack of transparency and consent in AI I can never be sure, and opt in still means we fed this all the data of public domain books/art by people who are dead and can't consent. I'm glad those models are more legally in the clear but to me they are still using the art of people who can't have say in that. It's not about legality to me, it's about morality.
And even if the consent issues weren't a thing, for example if you fed a model only your own art and art of people you expressly asked for permission, it's still against what I see as the soul and spirit of art, which is communication.
To me, even if a novel or painting is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, it would immediately become less compelling to me upon knowing it was made by AI. AI has no creative process, nothing to communicate. Writing for me is therapeutic and when people read it and share with me that it made them feel things, that's such a meaningful moment for both sides. I think AI threatens that relationship.
Obviously what you do on your own time for fun isn't something I'm going to police at all. I'm glad it's fun for you and I'm happy you're working on something you enjoy!
I'm just gonna say no AI generated art on here going into the future. Maybe something about the technology will change, and I'll reconsider. I do think some AI tools such as translation or closed captions are good for humans overall, so this isn't really about banning ALL AI, this is about things where a robot is making the primary creative choices. Hopefully that makes sense
