Welcome to the 2025 Advent Thread!

Our list of who has what day is here for reference. There are plenty of open spaces, so if anyone still wants to join in, or someone wants to do more than one day, just pop you name in on an empty day.

The way it works is you pick an open day on the spreadsheet, on that day you post a new piece of Lupin related art or writing and you share a prompt based on your piece.

Other members of the forum, if anyone's entry or prompt inspires you, feel free to use the prompts that are posted by others to write or draw something of your own and post it below.

Please wait until the day-of to reveal your piece and prompt - no spoilers!

General rules: Keep it Lupin related, SFW, and fics should be around or under 1k. It can be about the holidays or just some fun new Lupin art to share with folks.

Jigen was about to shut his eyes for an early night. New Year’s Eve was one of many holidays that he appreciated having time off school. But he had mixed feelings about it. He certainly didn't have family around. And with nobody making food or anything like that, he never got the tradition of it all. He lay in his small cot in the houseboat and stared up at the ceiling, letting the light rocking of the water lull his bored senses. His dad was gone and a quiet night was far better than a scary one.

As if to spite him, he felt the shake of someone stepping onto the boat. He flailed his way out of bed, breath caught in his throat, arm reaching for his gun. He pointed it at the doorway, his arms quivering, teeth set firmly.

And that's when he heard the muffled, impish laugh of Lupin the Third. The boat shook back and forth. He must've been jumping."Jigen! Jigen! I know you're in there!"

Jigen tried to get his heart rate back to normal and stuck his head out the door to bark at him, "Dumbass, I almost shot you!"

Lupin only laughed and swung around the railing of the boat like a monkey. "I'm bored! Let's do something."

"Something?" Jigen sighed. "What's something? Don't you have a bunch of like, food and family crap to do? Doesn't your family go to the shrine or whatever?"

"Nah. My dad and Shinobu had some party! They wouldn't tell me anything." He pouted, "And I don't care about that crap, obviously. What about you?"

Jigen shook his head. He supposed that both of them weren't exactly from traditional families.

"I stole us some champagne! That's what fancy people drink on New Year's Eve." Lupin nodded to agree with himself on his excellent plan. "And I have fireworks."

Lupin flicked a lighter from his sleeve and grinned excitedly.

"Don't light ‘em on here, my dad'll kick my ass if I burn the boat!" Jigen snatched the lighter, but he found himself grinning back.

"Then maybe you shouldn't smoke on the boat." Lupin shoved him and stole the lighter back, igniting a random fuse and throwing the lit sphere into the air. Both boys jumped backwards, shielding their eyes from the following explosion. It wasn’t that big, but Jigen felt a cry of shock, and then a bark of laughter on his lips.

They shared cigarettes between lighting sparklers, talked about a lot of nothing, and around midnight Lupin popped the cork of the champagne. The little projectile flew off into the water, while the carbonated bottle foamed and sloshed onto the deck of the boat.

Both boys struggled to catch the liquid in their hands. Lupin licked froth from the side of the bottle and stuck out his tongue, "Augh man! It tastes disgusting!"

"I've got something." Jigen mumbled with a small grin. He went back inside to pull out his chocolate bar, a yearly gift from dad on New Years. He sat next to Lupin on the roof of the boat, broke off half and handed it to him.

"Happy New Years, Dumbass."

Two of the French winter culinary traditions!

There are two regional variations of fondue:

Jigen's fondue consists of pieces of bread dipped in a mixture of cheeses and white wine. It's usually served with cured meats and potatoes.

Lupin's fondue is made with raw meat (most often beef) cooked in boiling oil. It's generally eaten with potatoes and various sauces: pepper sauce, aioli, bernaise, rouille... sometimes barbecue sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise...

I've always been used to fondue bourguignonne, but the Savoyard version is heavier, so my family rarely eats it. So if you order fondue in France, be sure to specify the region!

Both dishes are perfect for a convivial meal, as there's a large platter around which everyone at the table gathers to dip their pieces of meat or bread. But beware, if your piece falls into the oil or cheese, you'll have to do a forfeit!

She's gorgeous! Also I think the Media gallery should work for even a large file, if you need info on how to do that just ask me :)

My prompt is Secret Santa! I feel that the crew draws straws for their recipients, and Goemon got the luck of the draw from a certain thief who didn't want him left out of the muppet action.

Day 12: Zenigata is taking advantage of his stay in France to enjoy the Christmas markets. The most popular are those in Alsace (especially those in Strasbourg and Colmar). It's a chance for him to savor a delicious mulled wine or spiced fruit juice with pretzels! But it turns out that the friendly shopkeeper's face seems quite familiar...
